When we look at the surface of our skin containing pores that produce sebum, our body's natural oil, this sebum keeps our skin hydrated and healthy. The smaller pores on our face are not a problem, it's the larger ones that we seem to notice. The appearance of large pores on your face can be blamed on three causes.
which are ....
Overproduction of sebum
when your sebaceous glands go into overdrive large pores can appear on the face, your sebaceous glands can become overactive due to the intake of unhealthy food, excess exposure to the sunlight, stress, comedogenic beauty products, and not following proper skincare.
Reduced skin elasticity
As we advance in years, the body's natural production of collagen goes down; this can start to happen as early as 20. This leads to skin losing its elasticity, which can consequently make the pores on your face look larger than they are. sunlight exposure can also reduce the skin's collagen levels.
Your genes
This is the only uncontrollable factor in the list, your genes largely determine the size of your pores. In fact, as you age, your genes can make your pores seem bigger.
How do I get rid of my pores ?
We can never get rid of our pores but we can minimize them here's a few tips to try
Cold shock.... is one of the most effective ways of getting rid of larger pores. This has a tightening effect on the skin to help shrink the larger pores. It also helps boost skin health by increasing the blood circulation in your face making it plump and refreshed. This can be done by using iced water to wash the face or applying ice cubes wrapped in a washcloth to the face and neck area.
Face scrub exfoliation .... to remove the sebum, dirt and bacteria that causes the pores to be blocked and gives the appearance of them looking larger.
Washing the face both morning and night....or more after sweating or doing sports, using hot water and washing the face with clean hands and keeping the movements light av
oid rubbing or scrubbing the skin to harsly. Patting the face dry with a clean towel or washcloth.
Always remove make up at night....it is essential to remove make up before you sleep. Sleeping in make up overnight can cause pores to become blocked due to build up of makeup, oil and bacteria.
Always wear sunscreen....It is essential to care for your skin when you are exposed to the sun. Sun exposure can dry and damage the skin, making pores look larger. Lots of moisturisers on the market contain sunscreen, an SPF of 30 or over should be worn every day and stay in the shade when the sun is at its strongest.
Microneedling....can minimize the appearance of large pores. MIcroneedling involves creating small controlled micro punctures to the skin with a series of tiny needles using a mechanical device. This triggers the production of collagen for skin healing purposes. The new collagen produced can reduce the appearance of larger pores.
