Nurse Ellie on facials and the Five Star Facial

Why I love the 3DHydrO2 facial and why it's nickname is the #fivestarfacial.

Despite its nickname, the five star facial actually boasts an incredible 7 different technologies of skin care and treatments.

Anytime I personally think of a facial, I think "can I have this", "will it suit my skin type?" Well the 3DHydrO2 facial is suitable for any skin type, as long as the client is over the age of 18 without certain medical contraindications.

Secondly, I think "how long will this treatment take?" and "does it fit my budget, can I afford this?". That's the beauty of this treatment, especially in the cost of living crisis we're currently in. There are multiple different packages available to suit all budgets. Treatment length can range from a 30 minute 'express facial' to a 90 minute "delux/plus facial".

Now let me get into the nitty gritty of this facial, why is it so great for your skin and why are multiple celebrities also recommending it?!

The HydrO2 facial is customisable to any and all skin types, it targets universal facial concerns and is pain-free. Overall the different facials this machine can offer ultimately will cleanse, smooth and hydrate the skin. Giving a more youthful, glowing appearance. It is recommended that you have a course of 6 facials, one every 3-4 weeks for optimal results, however you will notice a difference after just one session.

The HydrO2 facial was brought to market in 2019 by 3D Aesthetics, it has since become the company's best selling device, we at La Ross have been invested in the HydrO2 facial for a number of years and we certainly agree.

So what are the technologies and how do they work?!

Hydro Peel/Deep Cleanse:

Uses a combination of three different solutions to cleanse and smooth the skin. An AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acid) solution is first used to smooth and cleanse the skin, by gently exfoliating the stratum corneum better known as the outermost layer of your epidermis (top layer of skin). Next a BHA (Beta Hydroxy Acid) solution is applied which helps improve any inflammation you may be suffering from and helps eliminate any bacteria. Lastly to hydrate and nourish the skin a RH-Oligopeptide and Acetyl Hexapeptide solution is used, which helps draw moisture to the skin (Acetyl Hexapeptide is a synthetic peptide made from botulinum toxin/botox).

Exfoliation/Oxygenation:

This creates the 'Bohr effect' which is when O2 (oxygen) replaces CO2 (carbon dioxide) leading to increased cellular activity and optimum skin oxygenation for cell regrowth. Active ingredients such as Kojic Acid and Retinol are also used in this stage resulting in a hydrating and brightening effect.

Oxygenation:

Although already mentioned, there is a second stage of oxygenation, however this is more area targeted as with the spray attachment this creates the venturi effect by breaking down molecules within the product encouraging maximum cell absorption.

Skin Lifting/ Electro Ion:

This treatment uses electroporation (where a minimal electro field is applied to cells) in order to increase cell permeability/absorption of the products used. This helps revitalise the appearance of any dull skin.

Skin Tightening:

The skin tightening aspect speaks for itself, this is where we use radio frequency technology to help produce and increase collagen production in the skin. Collagen is a protein that helps keep your skin looking and feeling smooth alongside keeping your skin's elasticity.

Hydration:

This aspect uses ultrasound technology to help with product infusion into the skin, this helps with hydration in areas where fine lines and wrinkles are present.

Fire and Ice:

'Fire' represents the heating element used during the beginning of your facial, this is to open pores and increase blood supply to the surface of the skin enabling continual product absorption.

'Ice' represents the 'Cryo' aspect of the facial, this chills the skin down to 5°C, this element is used at the end of each facial to then decrease blood supply and close pores sealing in the infused products. This helps give a tightening effect and reduce any erythema (redness) following treatment.

Let's be fair! If you are stuck for time or want a treatment that does what it says it will do then this is for you!

I hope you've enjoyed reading my first blog and hope you get booked in for your first #fivestarfacial soon!

All the best, Ellie x
